Electrical Make-Safe FAQs

Is it safe to stay in the property if water has reached sockets or a consumer unit?

No — keep everyone away from the affected area and don't touch any wet switches, sockets or the consumer unit yourself. Call us immediately; our NICEIC-registered electricians will isolate the circuit safely on arrival before assessing further damage.

Are your electricians actually NICEIC registered?

Yes, every emergency electrician we send out is NICEIC-registered, so isolation, repair and rewiring work is carried out to current wiring regulations and can be signed off accordingly.

How much does an emergency electrician call-out cost?

Emergency attendance starts from £150 + VAT for the first hour, covering diagnosis, risk triage and making the circuit safe. Any further remedial work — a consumer unit replacement or rewiring, for example — is quoted exactly before we proceed.

Can you get my power back on the same day?

Usually, yes. Where a full repair can't be finished immediately, we restore safe temporary power so your property or business isn't left without lighting or essential circuits overnight.

Do you provide a certificate after the work?

For notifiable work and consumer unit replacements, yes — you'll receive the relevant electrical certification, plus a written summary of the fault and repair suitable for landlords, insurers or building control.

The same circuit keeps tripping after you've made it safe — what then?

A make-safe removes the immediate danger, but if a fault keeps recurring we'll recommend (and quote for) the underlying fix — whether that's a faulty appliance, degraded cabling or an outdated consumer unit — rather than leaving you to reset the same trip repeatedly.
